What is RSS?
Short for Rich Site Summary, RSS is an XML format for syndicating Web content. A Web site that wants to allow other sites to publish some of its content creates an RSS document and registers the document with an RSS publisher. A user that can read RSS-distributed content can use the content on a different site. Syndicated content includes such data as news feeds, events listings, news stories, headlines, project updates, excerpts from discussion forums or even corporate information.
RSS applications are commonly available for your desktop PC, laptop, cell phone, and wireless pda. RSS capability is also being supported in many web browsers. If your browser currently supports RSS/XML site feeds, you may notice a small icon in the lower right-hand corner of your browser window.(or elsewhere within the window depending on browser and operating system) Simply click the icon to bookmark the RSS/XML feed.
